Wizard of Oz Suite is a collection of seven songs from the 1939 MGM classic film The Wizard of Oz, a musical fantasy film based on L. Frank Baum’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz about teenager Dorothy Gale, her dog, Toto and their journey to the far-off Land of Oz.  This suite has been exquisitely arranged for big band by legendary jazz trombonist Phil Wilson and was first performed by the NDR Big Band on October 23, 1989 for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the film with Wilson as the featured soloist for several of the songs.  The broadcast recording was released on Wilson’s album of the same name in April 1993 on the Capri Records label.  It is being published here for the first time for the 30th anniversary of the album.
